Walking through Paris in the early morning, I made my way to the ๐™๐™„ย ๐™€๐™ช๐™ง๐™ค๐™ฅ๐™šย ๐™’๐™ค๐™ข๐™š๐™ฃโ€™๐™จย ๐™‰๐™š๐™ฉ๐™ฌ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œย ๐˜ฝ๐™ง๐™š๐™–๐™ ๐™›๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ. I arrived in time to find a good place in the room, a conference space opening toward the Eiffel Towerโ€ฆ the city waking slowly.


As women from across the food industry filled the space, the atmosphere shifted. Curiosity, experience, and purpose began weaving new connections even before the panel started.

A sip of coffeeโ€ฆ and the conversation opened.

The discussion, guided with clarity by Francesca Berry, brought together

Mayka van Acht, Grace Bryan, Claire Brumby, Mathilde Do Chi, LL.M., and Lu Ann Williamsย - each offering a perspective shaped by experience, intuition, and purpose.

During the discussion, ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜†๐—ธ๐—ฎย ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—ปย ๐—”๐—ฐ๐—ต๐˜, we addressed the power of saying yes in the early stages of your journey - and how those choices reveal both what energises you and what doesnโ€™t. Learning to say no, she noted, often becomes the more complex skill, yet essential as we refine our direction.


Mayka reflected on resilience - recognising when your energy is depleted, understanding what helps you reset, and staying grounded in who you are while leading others. She also spoke about stepping into new challenges, like public speaking, and how these skills strengthen over time. In her early years building a food business, she often said โ€œyesโ€ to too many things - sometimes out of hope or possibility - and later felt the consequences of decisions that werenโ€™t fully aligned.


With experience, intuition became her compass. Claire now asks one essential question:๐˜ฟ๐™ค๐™š๐™จย ๐™ฉ๐™๐™ž๐™จย ๐™ข๐™ค๐™ซ๐™šย ๐™ข๐™šย ๐™ฉ๐™ค๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ง๐™™ย ๐™ข๐™ฎย ๐™™๐™ž๐™ง๐™š๐™˜๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃย - ๐™ค๐™งย ๐™–๐™ฌ๐™–๐™ฎย ๐™›๐™ง๐™ค๐™ขย ๐™ž๐™ฉ?
